(1) Background: This paper proposes a strategy coupling Demand Response Program with Dynamic Thermal Rating to ensure transformer reserve for the load connection. solution is an alternative expensive grid reinforcements. (2) Methods: The proposed methodology firstly considers N-1 mode under strict assumptions on and ambient temperature then identifies critical periods of year when constraints are violated. For each period, integrated management/sizing problem solved in YALMIP find minimal needed However, due nonlinear thermal model transformers, optimization becomes intractable at long periods. To overcome this problem, validated piece-wise linearization applied here. (3) Results: It possible increase margins significantly compared conventional approaches. These high could be achieved relatively small volumes. instance, margin 75% (of nominal rating) can ensured if only 1% annual energy curtailed. Moreover, maximal amplitude (in kW) should activated 2–3 h during year. (4) Conclusions: Improvements combining suggested.
